MISSOULA – This week’s One Class at a Time grant winner is incorporating current events as reading assignments in her 4th grade classroom.
Russell Elementary teacher Jenna Seaman has invested in Story Book Magazine. Roughly every month, Seaman receives a new magazine, each edition varying in genre.
Non-fiction, fiction, poetry, and drama are just some of what the Story Book Magazine covers.
Seaman says her students find stories on current events relatable, and more engaging than a standard book.
The One Class at a Time Grant is sponsored by Republic Services and KPAX-TV. KPAX General Manager Bob Hermes awarded the $250 grant to Seaman.
“So our first story this year is about the flood last year in Baton Rouge, and it ties in to what’s going on right now in the south, so it’s really great,” she said.
