Clinton School Librarian Lydia Perry says the message from her students is loud and clear, and she couldn’t be more thrilled. They are asking for more books, and a wide variety at that.

The requests range from sports to gaming books and even novels, and Perry is scouring all resources to meet her student’s needs.

One of the avenues she explored was a request for a KPAX-TV/Republic Services One Class at a Time grant. Perry is this week’s winner, and will receive $250 which will be used to purchase 15 new books, which she says helps the students to build vocabulary, create conversation and share knowledge.

"We can grab the reluctant readers, and even the students who enjoy reading," Perry said. "We can give them the high-interest books and they can just keep that enthusiasm going and start building life-long learners."
