MISSOULA – Missoula residents will need to use detours while construction takes placed along the Milwaukee Trail

This will all be taking place along the 800-foot stretch that runs adjacent to the Old Sawmill District.

The construction aims to increase the width of the trail and also resurface the area with new asphalt.

The cost of these renovations are expected to be around $80,000, but the city won’t be the ones footing the bill. The Old Sawmill district developers will be paying for the upgrades in an attempt to revitalize the area and give residents in the area a better walking path.

"We know it’s an inconvenience, but it’s just going to be temporary and it’s just going to be great thing for Missoula," says Old Sawmill District Co-Developer  Leslie Wetherbee. "Just being able to re-do this trail, and it was in need of it, so it’s going to be much better than what it was."

City of Missoula Parks and Recreation says that the trail is over 20 years old and could use an overlay. The new design will ensure emergency vehicles can access the buildings adjacent to the trail.
