BILLINGS – Billings police officers were at the scene of a shooting on North 32nd Street in downtown Billings on Monday morning.

Police Cpt. Kevin Iffland confirmed an officer was involved in the shooting.

A male was taken out of the Sandra Apartment building at 13 North 32nd Street and placed onto a stretcher and taken away by ambulance.

The current condition of the injured male is unknown. AMR was called to the scene around 10:12 a.m.

Police Chief Rich St. John plans to hold a press conference later Monday.

Drivers can expect one lane on North 32nd Street and the alley alongside the Sandra Apartments to be closed while police conduct an investigation.

Iffland said there is no threat to the public.

The initial investigation indicates only one officer fired a weapon, and it’s unclear if the suspect was armed or if other weapons were involved.

The officer’s name was not immediately released.

We’ll have more information on this developing story as it becomes available.
