Hopefully, spring will show up soon and that’s when a lot of anglers will start taking to Montana’s lakes and rivers – and anglers will now have a new site to visit for all things fisheries related.

“FishMT combines all of the information that we have on fish in Montana and that’s why we call it fish because it’s not just about fishing and it’s not just about scientific information about fish – it’s those together,” said David Schmetterling with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

Folks can now read fish reports, look up stocking data, search for a fishing access site, contact a biologist and much more – all in one place.

“Some of the things we are really excited about providing on FishMT is some really user-friendly informative maps where you can get a wealth of information just by clicking around and zooming in on a map. Everything from stocking information to species distribution to our raw data,” Schmetterling said.

FishMT is also mobile friendly so while it may not help you land a fish, it’s still a great tool to have on the water.

“The vast amount of information we have accessible to anybody on FishMT is really astounding,” Schmetterling said. “And my goal is I hope people use it. I hope people take advantage of it.”

FWP plans to continue improving FishMT through user feedback. Click here to visit the new website.
