MISSOULA – The operators of the new Lucky’s Market in Missoula are looking to hire up to 150 for their new store — and with a business that’s not a traditional grocery-only operation, that means some job opportunities for people in all aspects of the food business.

The Colorado-based grocer is putting the finishing touches on its new store at the Southgate Mall, which has taken over the space left vacant when Sears left a couple of years ago.

Lucky’s Market is known for its non-traditional approach to food retailing, marketing itself as a store for people who love food saying it’s a "right, not a luxury."

While much of the store is geared to groceries, there’s also a huge open kitchen, with everything from a variety deli, to a smoker to prepare local meats and even a ramen and sushi bar.

So the company is not only looking for cashiers, stockers and others to handle groceries, but people experienced in all aspects of food prep too.

"Yeah, yeah, we’re hiring a 150-people. I’m just over halfway there but we’re still looking for some good people that like food. We’re down at the Hilton Garden Inn on North Reserve from 8-to-5, Monday through Friday," Lucky’s Market Store Director Chad Johnson said.

The new store is scheduled to open May 2
