MISSOULA – Montana Rail Link plans to remove all their remaining rail cars that have been sitting idle on their Bitterroot branch line south of Missoula.

MRL spokesman Jim Lewis says the cars will be removed Friday morning and will pass through Missoula as they head to the Missoula rail yard.

“We will have railroad personnel at each crossing to ensure the safety of our employees and the general public," Lewis said.

The rail cars will be moved between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Friday and drivers are asked to use caution at railroad crossings.

Lewis added that minimal delays are expected as the rail cars are moved.

Some 110 train cars were moved out of the Bitterroot Valley and into Missoula back in January.
