The Montana Highway Patrol reported that troopers were nearly struck by wrong-way drivers in two separate incidents in March.
According to the MHP, on March 16, a trooper responded to a non-injury crash on Highway 310.
As he approached Fort Rockvale, an 82-year-old female driver drove up the wrong travel lane. The trooper and three other cars narrowly avoided colliding with the wrong-way driver.
In another incident on March 31, a trooper was traveling on Highway 312 near Billings when he observed a driver going the wrong way. The trooper could only move to the right as soon as he realized that the suspect vehicle was not going to return to the correct lane.
MHP stated that the suspect involved was intoxicated and likely thought he was on the interstate instead of a two-lane road.
