MISSOULA – Some Missoula second graders were recently buzzing with excitement outside of the Missoula Fresh Market on West Broadway.

The second-grade students from Lowell Elementary School had been learning about bees and other pollinating insects and had a chance to ask questions from an experienced beekeeper and paint a bee box.

Big Sky Beekeepers vice president Garry Pfirsch said he was very impressed by the kids he spoke with.

“They were very inquisitive they did ask a lot of questions and they had a lot of knowledge on bees and pollinators and beekeeping. Their teachers are doing a wonderful job,” Pfirsch told MTN News.

The owner of the Missoula Fresh Market has a colony of bees on the roof where the boxes could possibly be placed.
