BUTTE – A 45-year-old man has died after apparently being hit by a vehicle in Butte after an argument.

According to a press release, police officers responded to a call on the 400 block of Greenwood at approximately 6 p.m. on Thursday, after a woman said she saw a man on the road and thought he might be injured.

The woman told police that she and the man were arguing over private property and that when she drove away the man ran alongside her truck then jumped on the running board.

At some point, the man either fell or jumped from the running board while the vehicle was moving.

Police said it appears the man was struck by the rear of the vehicle.

The man was taken to St. James Healthcare, where he died from his injuries.

His body has been taken to the Montana State Crime Lab by Butte-Silver Bow Coroner Lee LaBreche.

An autopsy is pending.

The names of the individuals involved have not yet been released.

The incident is being investigated by Butte-Silver Bow law enforcement and the Montana Highway Patrol.
