Billings breaks snowfall record

The National Weather Service reports the Monday morning snowfall has pushed Billings over the all-time record.

The weather service posted this message:

.SEASONAL SNOWFALL RECORD BROKEN IN BILLINGS MT…

THE SEASONAL SNOWFALL RECORD OF 103.5 INCHES WAS BROKEN THIS 
MORNING AT 10 AM AT THE BILLINGS AIRPORT WITH ONE TENTH OF AN INCH
OF SNOW ACCUMULATION RECORDED SO FAR TODAY. THE SEASONAL SNOWFALL
TOTAL NOW STANDS AT 103.6 INCHES. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS SET 
DURING THE 2013-14 SEASON.

WE WILL UPDATE THIS REPORT WHEN THE FINAL DAILY SNOWFALL TOTAL IS
RECORDED AFTER MIDNIGHT.

In another post, the weather service said there was a clap of thunder in Billings as rain changed to snow around 9:16 AM MDT.
