BUTTE – A Montana Tech alum works for the U.S. Secret Service will be the keynote speaker at the Butte university’s graduation commencement next week.
Dr. Ron Layton will address the graduates at Montana Tech’s 118th commencement ceremony at the Butte Civic Center on May 5th. Layton is a 1989 graduate of Tech where he played football and has worked for 26 years with the Secret Service. He was responsible for protecting former U.S. presidents and first ladies.
“Wonderful thing about Ron Layton is he grew up in Pittsburgh. He was raised in grandmother’s beauty shop. And so what Ron has learned in life is how life skills matter, that anybody can rise to whatever level they think they want to rise to. And that’s a big part of what Ron’s message is when he speaks,” said Montana Tech Vice Chancellor Joe McClafferty.
The commencement ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the Butte Civic Center.
