MISSOULA – It’s one of the most beloved fish stories of the past 25 years and this weekend Missoula Community Theater tells the “tail” of a couple navigating the “deep waters” of true love, despite their differences.

The Little Mermaid is widely considered as the film that saved Disney animation, and just short of a decade ago the classic movie based on the Hans Christian Anderson story took to the Broadway stage.

This weekend, the story of Ariel’s chance meeting with Prince Eric takes to the MCT stage in a performance that’s enthusiastic and colorful.

All of the favorites are there, including Flounder, Scuttle and Sebastian, with fanciful costumes and some truly surprising special effects the crew has been working for weeks to perfect.

The audience is transported to the briny deep, or maybe that’s just the best way we can describe Ursula and her minions, as Ariel must choose between her life and true love, along with the advice of all her friends and family.

The production opens this weekend at MCT in Missoula with shows continuing through May 13. There will also be a special adaptive performance the evening of May 8. Click here to view the full show schedule.
