MISSOULA – Hundreds of volunteers are continuing to take part in the flood relief efforts across Western Montana and on Thursday one team came from Spokane to fill some sandbags.

Horizon Credit Union rallied nine volunteers to fill sandbags, working alongside Team Rubicon and community volunteers. Besides muscle on the ground, Horizon is also fundraising for Missoula Family YMCA for donations and manpower.

Horizon is also making a special loan available to those affected by the floods. It includes a 90-day no payment window to help victims recover damage The credit union has several branches across Washington, Idaho and Montana — including in Missoula and Butte.

"The whole credit union philosophy is, I’ve got it on my shirt, people helping people. That’s what we’re here [for] and that’s what we’re doing. I get to oversee all of our volunteer efforts and all of our community support, and so it was really important to us," said Kathleen Schlib with Horizon Credit Union. "When we saw what was going on over here to send a team and to pitch in."

Residents living in affected areas and require sandbags or assistance, Team Rubicon urges you to get hold of them or visit their site at Fort Missoula.
