MISSOULA – A busy Missoula road will be closed during the overnight hours this week.
Knife River has announced that they will close Van Buren Street to through traffic from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The closure will be from I-90 westbound on and off ramps to Poplar Street as work continues on a new roundabout.
As with the roundabout that was completed at Orange Street last year, Van Buren’s traffic will also funnel through not just one roundabout, but two.
Engineers say the roundabout will be more efficient, not just for cars, but pedestrians and bikes as well.
The project will also see the installation of "sound walls" between the freeway and the Lower Rattlesnake neighborhood.
Montana Department of Transportation officials say the project should be completed in November.
