MISSOULA – With just a little over six months until its expected completion date, we’re beginning to get a better idea of what the new Marriott Hotel in Missoula will look like.

Contractors for HomeBase Montana are making more steady progress on the new hotel, which is rising on the former corner lot that was home to the Missoula Mercantile for more than a century.

As we showed you a few weeks ago, the interior of the hotel is closed in. And in the past few days, workers began installing the new building’s brick facade. While it wasn’t possible to reuse the crumbling bricks taken from the Merc, the developers are trying to follow a similar theme by using a classic brick facing and taller, upright windows similar to what would have been the classic look of Downtown Missoula in the early days.

The developer is continuing to sign tenants for the project’s retail and commercial space, with a projected opening day close to the end of the year.
