Flooding warning continues in Missoula, Plains areas

MISSOULA – A flood warning for parts of the Bitterroot and Clark Fork rivers in Western Montana has been extended.

The National Weather Service in Missoula has extended the warning for the Bitterroot River near Missoula until further notice.

The river has lowered slightly since this past weekend although it is forecast to remain in minor flood stage through the end of the week.

Low lying areas along the river — especially in the Lolo area, will continue to be impacted by flood waters.

A Flood Warning has also been extended for the Clark Fork River near Plains until further notice.

The river is forecast to remain around 16.5 feet through the week. Flood stage near Plains is 16.0 feet and minor flooding is continuing in the area.

NWS advises not to enter or cross flowing water or water of unknown depth.
