Public meeting set for residents with flood damage

MISSOULA – In preparation for receding water levels in Missoula County, a public meeting is set this weekend for residents with flood damage.

Representatives from various organizations and departments will answer questions at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3 at Hawthorne Elementary school. Flood recovery packets will be available at this meeting.

Current forecasts predict the Clark Fork River to remain in minor flood stage through this week, cresting to 10.76 feet on Saturday, June 2, after which it is predicted to trend downward through next week.

The Bitterroot River remains in minor flood stage and is expected to crest at 11.81 feet on Saturday, after which it is predicted to trend downward through next week.

Both American Red Cross shelters in Missoula and Seeley Lake are now closed. Residents seeking disaster assistance should call 1-800-272-6668.

A flood information line at 258-INFO remains staffed 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Callers will hear an updated recording after hours.
