MISSOULA – With the improving weather, areas that were previously closed to the public due to flooding are now reopening.

Evacuation orders have been lifted for the following areas:

  • Keck Street
  • Stone Street
  • Hamel Road
  • South Harpers Bridge Road
  • Nancy Lou
  • Schmidt Road
  • Off-Mullan Road.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has also re-opened Council Grove State Park, Deep Creek, Harpers Bridge and Sha-Ron fishing access sites.

Fishing Access Sites with walk-in-only access include Sha-Ron and Kelly Island off MullanRoad.

The Clark Fork River from the Reserve Street Bridge to Kelly Island remains closed until further notice due to dangers caused by downed power lines in the river. The closure applies to all water-based recreation, including, but not limited to: wading, swimming, fishing, floating and boating.

And the Tower Street Conservation area remains closed due to flooding, downed power lines and tree hazards.

A designated area for emptying sandbags has been set up on Hiberta Street at Hawthorne Elementary. It is important to keep de-sandbagging operations within the designated area, as there are construction projects occurring simultaneously at the school. This station will be available from June 8 to June 24. This disposal site is for sandbags only and not for regular garbage or flood related debris.
