MISSOULA – Missoula residents are being warned to be on the lookout for a door-to-door scam involving people saying that they are from NorthWestern Energy.
The scam has been seen around the 200 block of Woodford Street where residents say that a young well dressed, well-spoken man has asked to conduct an energy audit on behalf of NorthWestern Energy.
One resident found the request odd because the man didn’t have any NorthWestern Energy logos on him or anything to identify himself as a part of the company. Another resident allowed the audit to take place and days later had her home broken into.
NorthWestern Energy says they do not have anyone in the area and they do not perform door-to-door energy audits.
