DARBY – Everybody in Darby will be feeling "bullish" Friday night as an event marking its first decade returns to town with the "Elite Bull Connection."

Over the past 10 years the event, and others through the year, have helped to revitalize the Darby Rodeo grounds, turning rodeo into a major draw for the small town. While rodeo is a mainstay everywhere in Montana, it wasn’t exactly the focus in Darby, which was better known for its logging in years gone by. But through the efforts of promoters Cal Ruark and Jim Hale, and the Darby Rodeo Association, the grounds were revamped into one of the best in the area.

Gates opened at 4 p.m. with the bulls starting to buck at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, attracting some of the best cowboys from around the region.

And this weekend the Kiwanis and the Town of Drummond are sponsoring the big PRCA Rodeo, which features all rodeo events and gets underway at 2 p.m. Sunday. That rodeo is now in its 76th year.
