MISSOULA – Animeals hosted an auction on Saturday to raise money and gather resources like food for our furry four-legged friends.
Although they are often thought of as a cat-oriented foundation — of the 196,000 pounds of food they distributed to pets in need in 2017 101,000 pounds was given to dogs.
Animeals also auctioned off dog houses built by members of the Armed Forces Reserves Center here in Missoula and then five of them were painted by local artists.
“A lot of what we do is feeding dogs and last year we distributed 196,000 pounds of food and 101,000 pounds of that was dog food. So we just want to get the word out so people understand that we are here to help dogs as well as cats," Animeals founder Karyn Moltzen said.
Saturday’s Dog Days of Summer event featured live music by 406, food, and drinks.
