KALISPELL – Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry has identified one of the victims in Thursday’s head-on crash on U.S. Highway 2 between Kalispell and Columbia Falls that left two people dead.

Curry identified the driver of the southbound vehicle as 56-year-old Linda M. Turner from Sumter, South Carolina.

The other victim, who was driving the northbound vehicle, is a 27-year-old male from Kalispell. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Curry says that the crash occurred in the southbound lane, and both vehicles were consumed by an immediate post-crash fire.

The crash is being investigated by the Montana Highway Patrol. Authorities previously told MTN News that alcohol is suspected to have played a role in a crash.
