HAMILTON – The Daly Mansion was built in 1910 as a summer home, but now hosts thousands of visitors every year who come to see what makes this place so special.

“Its absolutelty gorgeous in the summer, as you can see our beautiful trees and lawns, we have over 26 acres of lush landscaping and we love people coming out and just having a great time on our grounds,” said Daly Mansion Foundation Executive Director Darlene Gould.

There’s a spirit of fun around the place. The Daly family spent their summers here in the early 20th century.

Gould has volunteered for 20 years and says guests have a way of feeling at home.

“And she’s just sitting there, and she had a great big smile on her face, and she says, ‘there’s something about this place that makes you so warm and welcome.’ I mean, it feels so warm and welcome, and I hear that a lot.”

The mansion’s restoration bloomed from a passion project with decades of decay to overcome. Now, the grounds are open to everyone seven days-a-week. Volunteers guide tours that take you a step back in time.

“People, especially people that love history, it’s just, it’s captivating. It just grabs your heart.”

From a Daly family home to a place for the community to enjoy, Daly Mansion has stood the test of time and adds a touch of its own warmth to any summer day.

The Daly Mansion is open until October, and after that by appointment only so be sure to check it out while the weather is nice.
