TROY – One person died and another was flown to the hospital in a single-vehicle crash near Troy.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports the crash happened on Montana Highway 56 near mile marker 21.3 just after 6 p.m. on Friday.
The driver of the Ford Explorer was negotiating a right hand curve and for unknown reasons the driver went off the side shoulder.
MHP says the driver over-corrected to get back on the road but the vehicle rolled over several times.
The driver, a 37-year-old woman from Beaverton, Oregon, was ejected from the car and died from her injuries.
MHP reports the victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The passenger, a 33-year-old man from Thompson Falls, was flown to a hospital in Coeur d’ Alene. He was wearing his seatbelt.
Speed is believed to have played a role in the accident.
