HELENA – Gasoline demand strengthened and supply declined over the past week.

Montana’s gas price average is $2.94, according to automotive group AAA which is one-cent more expensive on the week and month — and 58¢ more than a year ago.

“As crude and gasoline inventories tighten, gas prices remain volatile," AAA Montana spokeswoman Michelle Donati said. "On the week, pump prices increased as much as 11-cents for some states. Fortunately, price increases for Montana motorists have been relatively minimal."

The price of gas in Great Falls is sitting at $2.79 per gallon, Billings is averaging $2.78 and the average price for gas in Missoula is sitting at $2.98 per gallon.
