HELENA – A Missoula man is accused of threatening to shoot two people with a handgun and stealing their American flag.

Brian McEvoy, 42, appeared in Lewis and Clark County Justice Court Thursday to face felony charges of assault with a weapon, robbery, and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Court documents state that at around 2 a.m. on Thursday two people were almost involved in a motor vehicle collision with McEvoy. During a confrontation that followed, McEvoy allegedly pointed a handgun at the individuals and then chased them, while threatening to shoot them.

Police say after the victims ran off, McEvoy removed an American flag from the truck, and threw items across the roadway before leaving.

A judge in Helena set bond for McEvoy at $40,000.
