MISSOULA – Splash Montana managers are ready for this week’s hot spell. In fact, they’re welcoming the extra business after the summer got off to a slow start.

It’s been a summer of contrasts at Splash. The season started slowly because of the cool, wet weather in June. In fact, there were only 10 days of decent temperatures the entire month.

But Missoula Aquatics Manager Eric Seagrave says July’s business was constant and steady, with especially strong turnout for the Tuesday night Adults Only recreational swims. And the park is expecting big attendance this week with temperatures soaring to 100 degrees, although Seagraves says August turnout is usually lower than July as people go to the Western Montana Fair.

Seagrave says Splash Montana has never closed because its "too hot" and the park sees itself as providing some measure of relief to Missoulians feeling the heat, while still cooling down in a controlled environment with trained lifeguards on site that can be safer that being at the lake or river.

Splash is open 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends through August 26.
