LIBBY – The Ten Mile fire which is burning 18 miles southwest of Eureka in Lincoln County has now scorched an estimated 525 acres.

However, fire managers note that crews are making good progress on the fire lines thanks to favorable weather conditions.

The blaze is still moving downhill towards containment lines, and crews have been monitoring for spot fires in heavy timber stands.

Helicopters are continuing to make water bucket drops as needed while crews on the west end of the fire used heavy equipment to improve fire lines.

Meanwhile, hose lines were placed and work on mop-up has begun on the northwest side of the fire.

There are 237 people assigned to battle the lightning-sparked blaze.
