LIBBY – Lightning activity sparked eight new fires near the Kootenai National Forest on Saturday.
The Kootenai National Forest reports that four new lightning fires were confirmed just east of the 665 acres Tenmile Fire.
Fire crews and equipment are nearby and these new starts are being assessed by firefighters.
The four are located in Rexford/ Fortine Ranger District Fire.
Three new fires were confirmed at 4:30 p.m. in the Libby District. The Tom, Gold Hill, and North Gold Hill fires have resources on scene.
The current size of the fires range from .1- 4 acres
