BILLINGS – A Billings woman was killed and two men remain missing in Bighorn Lake following a boating accident.

The accident happened Saturday on the lake near the Dayboard 7 area.

According to a National Park Service press release, an off-duty sheriff’s deputy first reported the incident as a sunken vessel and people in the water.

National Park Service employees and Big Horn Country deputies located Robert Ludwich of Billings on the shoreline.

Ludwich was transferred by boat to Ok-A-Beh Marina and flown by helicopter to St. Vincent Healthcare with unknown injuries.

Search and rescue operations were launched for three additional missing boaters.

The search resumed on Sunday and the body of Tammy Scoville of Billings was recovered from the water.

The search for two missing men will continue Monday with additional Park Service and U.S. Coast Guard resources.

Officials did not release how the accident occurred or how many watercraft were involved in the incident.

Ok-A-Beh Marina and Bighorn Lake remain open, however, boaters are asked to use extreme caution and asked to keep wakes to a minimum in the area of the lake between Dayboards 5 and 9, where operations continue.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact Public Information Officer Christy Fleming at (406) 666-3302.
