POLSON – A Ronan area man died Friday evening in a head-on collision on Kerr Dam Road near Polson.

A Montana Highway Patrol dispatcher tells MTN News that a Ford Mustang driven by Patrick Allen Pierre, III, 38, was traveling south on Kerr Dam Road when he passed a vehicle in a no passing zone at a high rate of speed.

MHP reports Pierre went back in the southbound lane but drifted over into the northbound lane striking a Chrysler Town Car head on. Pierre, who was ejected from his car, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Polson where he died from his injuries.

A passenger in Pierre’s vehicle, a 38-year-old woman from Pablo, was also injured and transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center. She is said to have serious injuries.

The driver of the Chrysler suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

MHP says drugs and speed are factors in this fatal crash which remains under investigation.

The three people involved in the accident were not wearing seatbelts.
