MISSOULA – People from all over the state are heading to Missoula for the Pearl Jam concert on Monday.
There’s a lot of construction taking place around town and with the increase in the number of people on our roads we have what you need to know so that you don’t get stuck in a jam of your own.
The Montana Department of Transportation and general contractor, Knife River, are working to complete the construction at the Van Buren interchange and have made quite a bit of progress but this is an area that you will want to avoid when driving to the concert.
The I-90 ramps will be open to traffic but traffic control, including lights and flaggers, will continue to be in place. MDT is encouraging people to exit at East Missoula or Orange Street.
In addition to that construction, a portion of the Interstate 90 bridge deck has been removed for sound wall installation. Because of this, I 90 westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane.
Bicycle and pedestrian traffic is being detoured to the sidewalks on the east side of Van Buren Street. Flaggers will be out to help pedestrians and cyclists navigate the construction area for the concert.
Sidewalk construction in the University District will pause on Monday and Gerald Avenue, Fifth and Sixth streets will open until Tuesday morning.
