MISSOULA – Following several months of cleanup after a former employee was discovered using meth near kids, the YMCA Learning Center reopened Monday.
The Learning Center has programs for kids from infancy through preschool.
The interior of the facility was completely stripped and renovated to remove any traces of meth.
Its facility has been updated with security cameras in most rooms and outside, along with new door codes to gain enter.
Program Director Nanette Melzer says many of their clients have been supportive. Of the 72 kids they can take for programs, only 7 left over the ordeal.
“I think the term that ‘it takes a village’ has really taken on a brand new meaning for me. We’re just thrilled to be back home,” Melzer said.
They are working with the YMCA on a new employee drug testing policy.
