A North Carolina woman died in a one-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in Northwest Montana.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper James Handy reports that 46-year-old North Carolina woman was driving on Vinal Lake Road near Yaak around 12:30 a.m. when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road.

The woman’s Subaru Impreza traveled west across the road, crashing into a group of trees. She died on impact.

Handy says the woman was wearing her seatbelt and says alcohol and drugs are not suspected in this crash.

Handy says the woman was vacationing in the area. Her name will be released once her family has been notified.
