Lightning strike investigated near Darby

MISSOULA – There were a lot of lightning strikes seen on the radar from around 2 a.m. until 5 a.m. on Monday, according to StormTracker Meteorologist Lewis Dortch.

One of those strikes in the Bitterroot Valley was being checked out early Monday morning by fire crews.

The Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office reports that firefighters from Darby and the US Forest Service were called to the area west of US Highway 93 South for a report of a lightning strike in the Tin Cup Ridge area.

Ravalli County dispatchers have received several calls about the incident.

The fire danger remains at "extreme" on the Bitterroot National Forest and Ravalli County.
