North Carolina woman killed in NW Montana crash ID’d

LIBBY – Authorities have released the name of the North Carolina woman who died in a Lincoln County crash last week.

Montana Highway Patrol Sergeant Neil Duram says that Dawn Adamson, 46, of Granite Falls, North Carolina died in the Aug. 14 accident.

The crash happened at 12:01 .m. on Vinal Lake Road near the town of Yaak.

Adamson was the only person in the vehicle when her vehicle went off the roadway into large trees. 

She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and the vehicle airbags did deploy. 

Sgt. Duram says Adamson was visiting the area while on vacation and alcohol is not suspected to be involved in the collision.

A North Carolina woman died in a one-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in Northwest Montana.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper James Handy reports that 46-year-old North Carolina woman was driving on Vinal Lake Road near Yaak around 12:30 a.m. when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road.

The woman’s Subaru Impreza traveled west across the road, crashing into a group of trees. She died on impact.

Handy says the woman was wearing her seatbelt and says alcohol and drugs are not suspected in this crash.

Handy says the woman was vacationing in the area. Her name will be released once her family has been notified.
