MISSOULA – A Missoula man will spend the next 10 years in federal prison after being sentenced on drug trafficking and gun charges.

Robert Craig Smith, 39, was sentenced Thursday to a total of 120 months in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release.

He had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Chief United States District Judge Dana L. Christensen sentenced Smith to 60 months for each count, to run consecutively.

Prosecutors say that Smith distributed more than a pound of methamphetamine around the Missoula area between the Spring of 2015 and January of 2018

Smith also exchanged firearms for methamphetamine on several occasions, according to prosecutors.
