MISSOULA – The 18-year-old former Big Sky High School student who led police in a high-speed pursuit after allegedly attempting to run over a School Resource Officer will not serve any time behind bars.
The teen, who MTN News is not identifying because he was charged as a youth, was given a five-year suspended sentence in Missoula District Court on Tuesday.
The former student was facing five charges stemming from the incident which began at Big Sky High School on March 24th. He entered admissions to four of the charges in July, but for the charge of criminal endangerment, the youth entered an Alford Plea meaning he maintains denial but would like the case resolved.
Before the incident occurred the youth was already on probation for earlier charges and for violating that probation The teen will have six-months suspended running concurrently with the other suspended counts.
The teen will also have to pay restitution to the car dealership he crashed into. That total restitution is $8,017.47 and is for the insurance deductible that the dealership had to pay to repair the damage to vehicles the teen crashed into.
Judge Karen Townsend told the teen if he were to violate any of the terms of his probation he would serve the remainder of his suspended sentence with the Montana Department of Corrections.
