LIBBY – Some traffic delays can be expected in the area of the Gold Hill fire that’s burning a little over 4,000 acres north of Libby.

The Kootenai National Forest reports that Pipe Creek Road will be closed to traffic between mile marker 12 and the east fork of Pipe Creek for the construction of firelines.

The work will run daily between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. until completed. Drivers should expect delays up to one hour, then the road will open for 15 minutes to allow traffic to go through the area.

Pre-evacuation notices remain in place for Pipe Creek Road residents between from mile marker 11 and mile marker 13.
