KALISPELL – Business at the locally-owned Sears Hometown stores in Kalispell and Polson will continue as usual despite Sears Holdings Corporation’s announcement on Monday that it filed for bankruptcy.

The stores carry basic Sears products – appliances, lawn and garden items, snow blowers, lawn mowers and tools. Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores released a statement that they are not part of the bankruptcy filing.

The company has more than 750 stores nationwide says it separated from Sears Holdings in 2012 and business continues as usual at all of its stores including the locally-owned Kalispell and Polson stores.

Robert Malcolm, a manager at the store in Kalispell, and one of 13 employees between the two locations says both stores are doing well.

He says there are no worries with buying through either and they’re backing up all products just like they always have.

“The Sears credit cards the Sears Master Cards those are still good, you can still use those.  That’s no problem and people have been calling about the protection plans and warranties and those are still valid still good so there is no problems with those at all,” Malcolm said.
