LOLO – Winter storytelling is a longstanding Salish tradition and folks from all over gather every year to learn more about the traditions and stories of Native American Tribes.

Each year the Visitors Center at Travelers’ Rest State Park the Travelers’ Rest Preservation and Heritage Association has hosted a celebration of these stories.

Every Saturday a new storyteller comes to present their tales from all different angles.

“The knowledge that we have is contained in the stories that I’ve been handed down from generation to generation. They sound really like simple little stories but many of them they contain truths, universal truths, that can be applied to many different situations in the world,” said Nez Perce storyteller, J. R. Spencer.

The event continues every Saturday until February 23, 2019, beginning at 11 a.m. Tickets cost $5 per person. Travelers’ Rest State Park is located on US Highway 12 just west of Lolo.
