KALISPELL – Now that he’s Kalispell’s Chief of Police, Doug Overman talked with us about what he will be focusing on once he’s in office.

After former Chief of Police Roger Nasset chose not to seek re-election, Overman said he felt a duty to apply for the position as he’s been at the department for 19 years.

Growing up in Seeley Lake, Overman chose to take a job in Kalispell as a probation parole officer. He moved his way through the ranks becoming Investigations Captain in 2016.

Now, it’s time for a new chapter and Overman told MTN News what he will be focusing on during his time in office.

“Learning more about how we can respond to chemical dependency and mental health and comparing those to how it affects other duties that we have,” Overman said.

He also told us that he’s excited for his official first day, which will be on Monday, January 21. Overman also thanked the community and staff for all of their support.
