MISSOULA – Missoulians woke up bright and early to take part in the fourth annual Veterans Suicide Awareness Run on Saturday.

The event ended with the 6th annual Heros at Home Barbeque at Fort Missoula Regional Park where there was live music, food and free activities for the kids.

Over 40 service providers were on site to help raise awareness of the help they wish to provide to veterans.

The sponsor of the race was Extreme Sports for Veterans.

“They provide programming to help veterans get out there and get active and ultimately help them get linked up to services that will help them with thoughts of suicide,” said Anton Johnson with the Missoula Vet Center.

“You know the community involvement piece lets the veterans know that there’s people in their community that care for them and want to help support them,” he added.
