ARLEE – Crews are battling a lightning-caused fire northwest of Arlee.

The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Division of Fire said in a Facebook post that the “Arlee Northwest Fire” is burning about 24 acres with 20% containment as of 6:30 Tuesday night.

The blaze is located about 2.5 miles northwest of Arlee, on the Flathead Indian Reservation and is burning grass and timber.

Local crews, including the Arlee Fire Department, are helping manage the fire, with two Type 6 engines with personnel, and an eight person hand crew.

Fire managers say their objective now is to complete control lines and secure the fire lines with a burnout operation.
