BILLINGS — Yellowstone County health officials reported Thursday the 173rd COVID-19 related death in the county.
RiverStone Health said in a press release that on Wednesday, Jan. 13 a man in his 70s passed away in a Billings hospital.
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of yet another Yellowstone County resident due to COVID-19 related illness,” said John Felton, Yellowstone County Health Officer and RiverStone Health President and CEO. “This is a difficult time for the deceased’s family and friends and I offer my sincere condolences.”
Since the beginning of January, eight Yellowstone County residents have died due to the pandemic. Since March 2020, 173 community members have died of COVID-19 related illness.
At least 14,691 Yellowstone County residents have tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19, according to RiverStone Health. Among those infected, 498 have been hospitalized.
