POLSON — Four COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the Lake County Detention Center in Polson.

Lake County Sheriff Don Bell says that the cases were discovered “during a routine medical check” of inmates.

A COVID-19 test was administered on four inmates who were exhibiting mild cold-like symptoms and those tests came back positive for COVID-19.

Sheriff Bell says in a news release that the inmates are all contained within the same cell block and were the only inmates in that particular block.

All other inmates have been tested and we are awaiting those results with Sheriff Bell noting that no other inmates are showing signs of the coronavirus.

One staff member has also tested positive and we are awaiting testing results of other staff, according to Sheriff Bell.

Lake County Public Health reported an additional 40 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday morning. There are also 139 active cases and four hospitalizations being reported.

To date, a total of 490 confirmed cases -- including 349 recoveries and two deaths -- have been reported in Lake County.
