Coronavirus concerns prompt changes at Polson City Hall

POLSON — There are some changes now in place in Polson due to concerns of coronavirus (COVID-19).

All non-essential in-person visits to Polson City Hall have been suspended and the front door will be locked until further notice. Any visitors who are allowed into the building through the side door will first have their temperature checked.

"At the City of Polson, there is nothing we place greater importance on than the health and safety of our employees, customers and the community at large,” a news release states. “Our response to the COVID-19 pandemic at the local level will be very important to the goal of “flattening the curve” for the spread of this virus.”

City police and fire services are continuing as normal, however, the Polson Police Department has suspended fingerprinting services.

All non-essential board meetings have been canceled until further notice. The City Commission is still scheduled to meet on the first and third Monday of each month and meetings are open to the public at this time.

Please follow additional instructions for each department:

Finance and Utility Billing

  • All Utility Billing payments must be mailed in, put in our dropbox or paid online. The City has waived the 3% surcharge for online payments during this time. To make an online payment please go to the city’s website. Click on Online Bill Pay.
  • For all other Utility Billing business please call 883-8200 and press 1. If you need to get a dog or cat license please call 883-8200 and press 0.

City Court

  • All Fines are to be paid online or placed in the city’s dropbox. Online payments can be made by going to the city’s website. Click on departments and choose City Court, then click on City Court Online Payments.
  • The judge will be holding Court once per week on Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Entrance will be through the City’s side door. All persons will have their temperature checked at the door. Anyone with a fever will not be able to enter.

Building and Planning Department

  • Most transactions can be handled online or by phone, fax, and mail. For detailed information regarding your business transaction please call 883-8200 and press 2. To speak to the Building and Planning Assistant press 1; To speak to the Building Official press 2; To speak to the City Planner press 3.
  • Field operations are continuing as normal but interaction with property residents will be kept to a minimum. Essential business at City Hall will require an appointment. Please call 883-8200 and press 9 to reach the Water and Sewer Superintendent.

Parks and Recreation

  • Parks: All City parks are open but the bathrooms are closed. The City recommends that patrons follow the CDC guidelines for social distancing which means remaining out of congregate settings, avoiding mass gatherings, and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet) from others when possible. Please call 883-8200 and press 8 to reach the Parks and Recreation department.
  • Polson Bay Golf Course: The City’s golf course is intermittently open. Please see the golf course website at regarding information and any restrictions that may be in effect. The clubhouse can be reached at 883-8230.

Street Department

  • All operations will continue as normal.
  • To reach the City shop call 883-8200 and press 4.

Police Department

  • All operations will continue as normal.
  • The department has suspended its fingerprinting service until further notice.
  • For emergencies please call 911.
