POLSON — Lake County recorded its second COVID-19-related death in as many days on Tuesday as positive cases keep rising in the Mission Valley.

Lake County crossed 1,000 total cases since the pandemic began on Monday. Lake County Public Health reported on Tuesday that there were 231 active cases with 15 people hospitalized.

Health Services Director Emily Colomeda says the health department recently added three contact tracers to help keep up with the high number of positive cases.

Colomeda says a large number of confirmed cases are untraceable at this time with community spread rampant throughout the Mission Valley.

She is encouraging residents to limit family gathering size to less than 10 people during the Thanksgiving holiday to avoid further super spreader events.

“I know it’s difficult because it’s the holidays and we’re not used to being away from people during that time, but just understand that your individual actions have consequences for other people that you may not even know about,” Colomeda told MTN News.

Colomeda is also asking anyone with COVID-19 symptoms to isolate immediately and get tested as soon as possible.
