HARDIN — Big Horn County health officials reported Wednesday the 65th death of a resident due to COIVD-19.

The death involved a woman in her 60s who was hospitalized prior to her death on Jan. 11, county health officials said.

"The Big Horn County COVID-19 Response Unified Coalition extends our warmest condolences to her family and friends on her tragic loss," the agency said in a press release.

The death is the second of a county resident in January. The county’s fatality rate is 2.9% (65 deaths out of 2,215 total cases).

Big Horn County added six newly-confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, Jan 12. One patient was asymptomatic and five presented with symptoms when tested. Two cases are assumed community spread and four could be traced by public health to previously-known cases of coronavirus.
